Returns & Refunds

Plain-language summary: Every item is made to order. We accept returns within 14 days of delivery for unworn, unwashed items. Damaged or defective items must be reported within 3 days of delivery with photographic evidence and will be replaced or refunded at no cost to you.
1. Made-to-Order Products
All products sold through ChessMatters by WitTshirt.com are manufactured on a print-on-demand basis — each item is produced individually upon receipt of a confirmed order. Each item is inspected prior to shipment. Because items are produced specifically for each order, please review your size selection carefully before completing your purchase.
2. Damaged or Defective Items
You must inspect your order upon delivery. If you receive an item that is damaged, defective, or materially different from what was ordered, you must notify us in writing — email is acceptable — within 3 calendar days of the confirmed delivery date. Your notice must include:
- Your order number.
- A description of the damage or defect.
- Photographs of the item and, where applicable, the shipping packaging as received.
Upon verification, we will arrange for a replacement or issue a full refund, at our discretion. We will reimburse reasonable return shipping costs for confirmed defective or damaged items via standard USPS service. Return shipping costs above the standard rate are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Failure to notify us within the 3-day window may limit or void your right to a remedy for damage or defect claims.
3. Returns — Non-Defective Items
For items that are not damaged or defective, you may initiate a return within 14 calendar days of the confirmed delivery date, subject to the following conditions:
- The item must be unworn, unwashed, and in its original, resalable condition.
- You must contact us at sales@wit-t-shirt.com before returning any item to obtain return authorization.
- The cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the customer.
- We reserve the right to assess a restocking fee of 10% of the item price (minimum $5.00) on any returned item that does not arrive in resalable condition.
Items returned without prior authorization, or outside the 14-day window, will not be accepted and will be returned to sender.
4. Exchanges
We do not process direct exchanges. If you wish to receive a different size or item, please initiate a return in accordance with Section 3 above. Once your return is accepted and your refund is processed, you may place a new order for the desired item.
5. Refund Processing
Upon receipt and inspection of a returned item, we will notify you by email whether your return has been approved or declined. If approved, your refund will be issued to the original payment method used at checkout. Refunds will be processed within 14 calendar days of our receipt of the returned item in satisfactory condition.
Please note that the time required for a refund to appear in your account is determined by your payment provider and is outside our control. PayPal refunds typically post within 3–5 business days following our issuance.
6. Non-Returnable Items
The following are not eligible for return or refund:
- Items returned after the applicable return window has expired.
- Items that have been worn, washed, or altered.
- Items returned without prior written authorization.
- Items reported as damaged or defective after the 3-day notification window, absent extenuating circumstances at our sole discretion.
7. Returns Address
